DeForest Windsor Fire and EMS hosts safety open house
Families tried firefighting activities and learned CPR at an Oct. 3 event ahead of National Fire Prevention Week.
DeForest Windsor Fire & EMS welcomed families to an Oct. 3 open house at Firemen's Park featuring safety demonstrations and hands-on activities.
Children tried on firefighting gear, practiced directing a hose at a simulated fire and met Sparky, the National Fire Protection Association mascot. Paramedics demonstrated CPR and helped young visitors practice chest compressions on a mannequin.
The gathering also introduced National Fire Prevention Week, held Oct. 4-10. The year's theme focused on safe battery charging and preventing electrical fires.
