DeForest's boys volleyball team has put together a four-match winning streak as its program continues to develop.

Now, it’s showing up in the win column.

DeForest, which won only three games the previous season, has shattered past that mark halfway through the 2026 season. DeForest is on a strong four-game winning streak. They haven’t lost a match since Sept. 9.

DeForest recently secured its first Big Eight conference win of the year on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with a five-set victory at Fort Atkinson.

The first three sets were neck-and-neck, decided by two points each. DeForest won the first 27-25, but dropped the second 33-31, according to head boys’ volleyball coach Krista Smedema.

Recent matches

DeForest won the third set, 26-24, before dropping the fourth, 25-19.

Back-and-forth they went until DeForest produced a 15-9 win in the fifth and final set to claim the victory.

Though for DeForest, the winning streak didn’t start there.

DeForest — up to 5-6 overall and 1-3 against conference competition — knocked off visiting Madison Country Day School (MCDS) on Wednesday, Sept. 16. DeForest cruised past the Prairie Hawks in four sets.

They saved their best set for last.

After dropping the first 25-17, DeForest evened the match at one apiece with a 25-21 victory in the second.

DeForest then took a 2-1 lead after winning 25-19 in the third, before slamming the door shut in the fourth. They won that set by 18 points: 25-7.

Collectively, DeForest had a kill percentage of 39.2 collectively. This efficient effort on the attack was spearheaded by double-digit kills from junior Jackson Meyers and senior Tyler Coogan.

Meyers finished with 14 kills, while Coogan smashed 12. Quinn Schwab, a senior, had eight kills. Senior Ben Anderson knocked through three and Logan Schwab, only a freshman, had two kills.

DeForest senior Tyler Coogan was one of two Norskies to record double-digit kills during its 3-1 win over MCDS. Coogan smashed 12 kills, while junior Jackson Meyers had 14.

Quinn Schwab served four aces and dished 26 assists while Logan Schwab delivered three total blocks. Jackson Meyers absorbed 10 digs on the evening.

DeForest's four-set victory over MCDS came on the heels of a perfect outing on Saturday, Sept. 12, in a two-game round-robin tournament at Kenosha Tremper High School.

DeForest swept both opponents, Kenosha Tremper and Catholic Central, 2-0.

DeForest defeated Kenosha Tremper 25-21, 25-22 and Catholic Central 25-17, 25-13. Doing the math, that’s an average set victory of nearly seven points.

Against Kenosha Tremper, Quinn Schwab filled the stat sheet. He had seven kills, three aces, two blocks and 10 digs through the two sets.
